EDGAR Online, Inc. Launches an XBRL Repository for Financial Statements Tagged in XBRL
South Norwalk, CT - December 13, 2001 -
EDGAR Online, Inc. (Nasdaq: EDGR) announced today at
the XBRL Organization committee meeting in Orlando, Florida it has
launched XBRL Express (http://www.xbrl-express.com),
a public repository for company financial statements tagged in XBRL
(eXtensible Business Reporting Language) format. EDGAR Online,
Inc. is a provider of financial information derived from U.S.
Securities and Exchange Commission data and developer of financial
and business systems solutions.
XBRL, the newly developed business-specific XML financial reporting
language, is being advanced by the XBRL Organization, a global consortium
of over 120 companies including the American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants (AICPA), Institute of Management Accountants (IMA)
and other major financial services, technology, and public accounting
organizations. XBRL is expected to become the standard way in which
U.S. public companies will prepare, report and disseminate their financial
information.

lending institutions, news organizations and accountants to source
company financials prepared and published in XBRL format. The repository
will initially hold tagged XBRL statements from 80 companies in 12
