EDGAR® Online® I-Metrix Powers Japan’s First XBRL Format Service

SOUTH NORWALK, Conn. – May 31, 2005 – A recent alliance between EDGAR® Online®, Inc. (NASDAQ: EDGR) and Hitachi High-Technologies has resulted in the first service to launch in Japan that offers U.S. company information in eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) format. The new Japanese product makes use of I-Metrix, a suite of XBRL-based products from EDGAR Online, a leading provider of value-added business and financial information on global companies to financial, corporate and advisory professionals.
Yesterday, Hitachi High-Technologies announced in Japan that it is actively marketing the new service. Hitachi High-Technologies is selling the service to financial institutions, auditing companies, corporate survey and assessment divisions, think tanks, universities and other research institutions.

EDGAR Online launched its I-Metrix suite of XBRL products April 20. I-Metrix provides the ability to analyze more than 1,000 normalized and as-reported data points from companies’ financial statements. Coverage includes U.S. securities, including public, private and non-U.S. companies who report financials to the SEC. I-Metrix Architect provides an application program interface (API) delivered through a SOAP-compliant web service.
